Default Abacus Classes

I am planning to put my son for Abacus classes. Any of you have done Abacus Classes. How long does it take for a child to learn it properly. Friends, any ideas?

According to them it was a 3month or yr course ...not sure but it is very helpfull for the children ...
I remember when we were in school it ws told to us also thoda bahut yaad hai...but that time we did not have classes on it ....it was genreal things which were taught to us by our parents, guide n teachers...

For eg how to learn or memorize numbers or poems n all..

Nope not aware about the Abacus class ,but here we have a program called 'I Maths' ie Intelligent maths for kids starting from 3yrs onwards. Its a 3year course aimed at learning maths of course and also developing logic and thinking skills.

Hi Asha,

My Anna son has been put up into Abacus class for 6 months or so.
Its not a course for months but for years according to kids interest.

It teaches kids to do the maths in easier way. Like multiplying two 2 digits number in faster way.
So it has levels like it starts with Addition, subtraction, division and multiplication and as months goes by the level will increase with complexity.

So each would for couple of months and they will have a test/exam and would be certified.
this will improve quick maths and kids memorize things fast.

This course would be good for kids who is in 1std, i mean who knows little about maths concepts.

Hi Asha,

so wht've u planned for urjit.. Abacus classes are real good one for kids, especially for maths.
basically its not the concept of maths only, rather its the concept for memorizing, quick calculations n all.
As Uma said, it goes to higher levels of complexity as per kids interest.

Here in Faridabad, we have classes available for this for kids od standard 4th or 5th.
but i think if possible, start it as early as possible.. but make very sure about kids interest.

I heard about it around 3 yrs back here in faridabad.

Do let us know about ur decision ...
